About Us - LT Antiques

Antique Furniture London, Kent and International

Antique furniture can be a unique addition to the modern home. The right piece can complement your interior design and tell a story that has survived the test of time.

At LT Antiques we stock a selection of hardwood antique furniture and leather upholstered items. Each has been loved and admired for generations, which is testimony to the timeless design and craftsmanship that so many of our customers enjoy.

The flatpack equivalents of today are simply no comparison to the sheer quality of wood used in antique furniture. In the periods past, furniture was a stately item that demonstrated the wealth of an elitist society. Therefore, each small detail and the quality of the wood was a key consideration.

Tooled with the knowledge to recognise rare and unique pieces of antique furniture, we search far and wide to ensure our stock, offers customers a genuinely special addition to their home.

Our Hardwood Antique Furniture Range

We acquire and sell antique furniture on an international scale and are very selective about the stock we purchase.

Much of our antique furniture ranges from the 16th century, 17th century, 18th century and 19th century. We sell pieces that have the distinctive details, finishes and characteristics of sought-after styles from the Queen Anne, Georgian, Jacobean, Victorian, Edwardian, Art Deco, Art Nouveau and retro era. We also cater for modern tastes with a range of shabby chic and painted furniture.

Our vast stock of hardwood furnishings features carvings and inlays made from quality mahogany, rosewood, oak, walnut and coromandel.

Chesterfield Sofas and Upholstered Antique Furniture

Among our vast range of antique furniture, we offer a selection of upholstered leather sofas, chairs and day beds from the French Empire, Regency and Victorian era.

The most popular of all has to be the iconic brown leather Chesterfield sofa. Since it was created in the mid-18th century for Lord Phillip Stanhop, the classic brown leather Chesterfield sofa has been the statement piece of many an elegant office, library and sitting room.

Due to its popularity, we stock a wide selection of high quality genuine antique leather Chesterfield sofas from the 19th and 20th century. Each has been fully restored by hand to ensure it looks the part, ready for a new home.

We also offer bespoke chesterfield sofa and chairs, customised to any length of your choice. Allowing you to custom create the perfect piece to suit your requirements. We can make chesterfield sofas, club chairs and desk chairs finished to a very high standard using only the best quality leathers and traditional hand dying techniques. Seats can be stuffed with a range of fibres including horse hair, feather or foam for optimum comfort and chairs will be hand finished in your chosen colour and trim. These can be deep buttoned, cushioned of smooth seats. Please call to discuss.

LT Antiques is a Family Affair

LT Antiques owner, Luke Thomas is quite literally born and bred an antique furniture expert. He is the second generation in his family to successfully trade antique furniture on an international scale.

It takes many years of developing knowledge of antique furniture to identify the period and origins of each piece. From a very early age, Luke was introduced to antiques by his father. Ever since, he has displayed enormous passion for discovering rare and beautiful items.

Among the most unusual pieces Luke has discovered was the very table that Hitler planned the invasion of England, also known as Operation Sealion, with his high-ranking generals, including Hermann Goerging. The table was purchased by a local buyer in Kent. Another famous item includes an antique bureau that once belonged to Oscar Wilde.

LT Antiques boasts a high-profile clientele. The likes of Madonna, Tim Burton, Richard Branson and the king of Morrocco are among our celebrity customers. Some items have even made it to the big screen. For example, an LT Antiques chair featured in the new Mary Poppins film and another chair will be in the new Kingsman film. We supply brand names such as Burberry and Ralph Lauren!

The family business was further enhanced when Luke introduced, wife Linsey to the company. His son and two young daughters are also taking an interest in the world of antiques.

While Luke is clearly a passionate antique furniture dealer, he is also pursuing his dream as an Alpaca breeder. His 25-acre plot in Kent is currently home to 14 Alpacas.
